I have replaced the back bed panel and tailgate, have all new strips and bolts, but the angel strips are a problem. Are they welded in? They are most definitely original, but not bolted to the bed side. I have new strips and ordered the ones that are punched, but there are no holes to mount to the sides. Any be great

Be careful not to go through both the angle strip and the bed side, since you will be putting new ones in place. When installing the new ones, I drill holes in the new strips and puddle-weld them to the bed sides. After top-dressing the puddle-welds, they look close to factory. They can also be drilled and bolted in place with carriage-head fasteners. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 31 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2005 Posts: 31 | I can tell you that when you remove the strips from the bedsides the bed sides have a tendancie to warp. I like the idea of welding them back in but I used polishes stainless steel. I don't do welding myself, so I think that I'll just bolt them in w/carriage bolts.
