For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 304 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 304 | '52 3100. I have a leaking fuel shut off valve (pet cock) and am wondering if there is any reason to keep the darn thing? What would be wrong (except not keeping it original)with just cutting the thing off and using a gas rated rubber fuel line? I really can't tell how it's attached either. If I should keep it, does anyone sell them new, or a rebuild kit? Thanks for any helpful info.

But the new shut-off and rubber flex hose is a perfect match to the old ones. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | Do you have a fuel filter? if so, is it before or after the pump?

Line from pump to carb blocked off. This leak started when I replaced the fuel pump and then reopened the shut off valve. Probably just going to replace the valve. Does anyone know how it is attached to the tube coming from the fuel tank? Treaded tube maybe?

Just cut a small piece of graphite rope packing. Add it and tighten down the nut. In my 50 the fuel line goes to a flex hose. Flex hose to valve to allow for movement of the cab. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 457 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 457 | I got my fuel tank shutoff at the local NAPA...had it in stock. Sorry, can't find the Weatherhead part number, but it's 1/8" pipe into tank and 1/4" compression on side.

Great pic. I will just replace the valve.

I bring this up because some advanced design after market new tanks have metric threads on the bottom.
Original would be 1/4 pipe (I think).

I guess If I had one I would mount it in the rear (like race vehicles) It wouldn't do much good under the hood where you would expect fire.
