Any of you guys know what color this Glovebox Door is. It is from a 55 Suburban 2nd series, origional color, inside and out. I have searched and searched and found next to nothing. I think it is a Beige but is it Pearl Beige, Shorline Beige, or one of the many other Beiges that were used? I know I can have the color matched at the paint store but expect I can order a stock color cheaper and would really like to know the color name.

that pic looks like the standard gray to me, beige is tan/brown, which was not an interior color on any TF year .... this is close for the lighter color, but any color sheet I've seen just lists the names for the 2 interior colors [Marble Gray and Charcoal], no code

What about comanchi gold? Spelling? It was a tanish metalic.

Burb'r is asking about a 55.2 ... Marble Gray and Charcoal was the standard, maybe there were options available for burbs, but the pic provided looks gray on my computer - AFAIK the only beige in 55.2 was Sand Beige, an exterior color .... in 58 they changed the name of the light gray to Concord Gray, still gray .... in 59 only the interiors were Comanche Gold Metallic and Charcoal

'55.2 was tan and brown/black on the interior,I've seen the tan range from an almost Sand shade to a very pale almost white color. Mine was the latter. IRRC, Marble Gray was used in '56.

thought I had a 55 color sheet, but can't find it - Tims says any exterior color may be used inside I've never seen any 55-59 that had anything other than Charcoal [a flattened very dark gray close to the steering column] for the dark color - Charcoal is on the 56-59 color sheets, maybe in 55 there was some variations between plants carrying over 54-55.1 colors

yes, I couldn't find the 55 sheet I thought I had, but Tims [55 color sheet as linked] says Dupont says, which will be what GM said

that does not appear on any later sheets, although they do show some specific possible options along with the standard colors

Thanks guys for all of your tips. I've been in the Woods with a group of Boy Scouts since leaving this post, so here are some comments that may help you give me more.

1) The glove box door has not been sanded, only cleaned with soap and water then hand buffed with polishing compound to get the real color to come out. To the eye it is slightly darker that what the photo shows (on my screen at least). It's the best I could get in outdoor light.

2) The PO described the color as "Ugly Yellow" before painting over it. I expect that 50+ years of CA Sun had caused it to change from origional.

3) I have sanded everything below the drip rail (Int & Ext) to bare metal and found Ugly Yellow and several other variations depending on the sun/heat exposure beneath the repaint color. In every case more sanding got me down to this same color before hitting primer. The Interior and Exterior were definitely the same color.

Definitely not grey. Grey is what it had been repainted with so I have sanded a lot of modern Grey Acrylic away.

Maybe it was named something with Gold in it, no metallic qualities though. Smooth even color throughout.

Sand Beige/Oak Beige? It looks to me like Sand Beige was not used until 56. Am I missing something in Tim's Color Sheets?
Seems like maybe there were no real standards for 55.2 as they used up the last of the 55.1 paint. Then in 56 they started with new rules.

Definitely not Texas coast Sand but it isn't Pensacola white either. Maybe something in the Destin area but I haven't been there in several years, my memory fades. Did you find a color name or code for the almost white that yours was? Do you have photos of it that you could send?

Interior and Exterior are the same. My Steering Column, Supports, Parking Brake, etc... are all a gloss black!

1st sheet, only beige listed is Shoreline Beige .... does have a gray look

anyone have any tech tips on replacing the cab support mounts on a 61 apache? we will be doing the floor pan dance also !

Arabian Ivory is pretty close to what mine was. I'll have to scan in the pix I have from before I redid it, they're not digital pix. I've also seen '55 2nds with Sand Beige as the interior color.
