People tell me I should just put a TH350 in it because it is less complicated but I need the overdrive. Are there cross member issues?...electronics? Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 118 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 118 | The only difference between installing the 350 and 700 is the importance of the tv cable and if its electronic you need something to lock the converter up. it will cost an extra couple of hundred bucks. I put a floor shifter in mine from lokar wich comes with all of the linkage you need. I can get under mine and snap a few pics of what I did and send them to you if they will help. just let me know.
you will need the following at least
flywheel
starter
shifter
converter lock kit
have your drive shaft modified
new engine mounts if its horse shoe/trans mounted
trans cooler and/or new rad.
trans mount
tv cable bracket
feel free ask questions. I put mine in last winter so I don't remember everything off of the top of my head but I will help in any way I can. I was a little leary of doing mine at first but I did a lot of research and the trans and the importance of the tv cable and the drive shaft angles. I now have a 350 with a 77R4.
Mine was a 3 speed to start with so I needed a new transmission mount. As well you will need to shorten the drive shaft.
Add a new brake switch. One that will work the brake lights on when you push the peddle and also remove the power (much like cruise control) to the transmission.
And as stated you must make sure the TV cable is rigged correctly. | | |
