Hi all I looking for some pto shifter and linkage photos\help?? for my 38 1.5 ton flatbed dump. I only have the shaft sticking out the rear of the pto. Thanks Adam
Please submit a photo of your PTO so I can determine what type of shifter it requires. They are not all the same. Also send the model and brand info off the tag if it still has one.
Adam, do you see a pivot above or below the shaft on your pto ? The pto on my '36 1.5 ton has a bolt above the pto where the linkage hinges. Other than that it is just a simple lever made of flatstock that is offset to keep it close to the trans. shifter.
Adam: it is without doubt a very old pto and is a lever shift design as opposed to a cable shift as used nowadays. The shift lever/linkage would attach to the rear of of the shaft where the eyebolt is now. Someone has put that on there to offset the lever for clearance obviously but however you hook it up the lever goes through the floor and pivots on a plate that bolts to the floor. I would expect to find a long slot hole in the floor above the offset [censored]'y. I would want the lever to be as direct to the shift rod on the pto as possible and bend the floor lever to suit the needed clearance. I've set up tons of these in my lifetime but like so many things I wish I had kept photos of I didn't. But in my mind's eye it as clear as an be.
Dave Thanks for the info, after seeing the truck on youtube and with your info thats what I was thinking, the up-down valve looks like it had a cable , there was a old cable with a pull out knob that came in the box of parts with the truck, but no brackets or shifter it in , and the floors where replaced so there where no cut outs in the floor.
