The brackets have a slight curve and I believe the brackets should curve down. Is this correct? Next, as I've seen in the posts the brackets are a bear to fit and mine are no exception. My question is can the brackets be heated up to bend them to fit? The brackets feel like spring steel and I wasn't sure if heating is an option. I need to bend 1 bracket away from the fender about 1.5 inches to get the fit I need. Tried a come along but the thing just keeps springing back even with some aggressive force. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

The brackets will bend, the trick is to get them to bend right where you need it. I've used a "cheater" bar/pipe & chain, and the comealong. When bending, you have to go past a point to allow for spring back. Also, I feel your pain. I did a ton of bending and fussing on my bumper brackets to no avail. Finally gave up and bought a pretty decent pair at a local swapping meet.
Have you tried bolting the bumper and brackets up very loosely and drawing things up with the bolts? Maybe even using longer bolts then swapping out to the correct length. How about bolting one side up and using a long steel rod (or dare I say long screwdriver) through the bolt holes to pry the bumper into alignment with the second bracket?
