What harm will I do to the springs by blasting them? What would be a good material for the cover? Is their a good source for buying new springs?

Bill | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 28 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 28 | Larry - I had the same deal with my 1953 bench seat to clean out the mouse droppings and resolve some surface rust and broken springs. Ordered the springs at www.diyupholsterysupply.com. To remove the surface rust made a particle board and Visqueen Plastic Box then soaked the springs in a deluted solution of Klean-Strip Phosphoric Prep and Etch(Home Depot). Then I pressure shot it with water - painted. Not sure on the cover material for your 59 Apache.
Your not trying hard enough if you don�t screw up every once in a while.
