It is shorter, lighter and smaller overall in size. They looked somewhat the same to the untrained eye but quick inspection will spot the new engines immediately. Four screw valve covers, two piece push rod covers, distributors in the front and not in the middle, different distributors, and they used the V8 bellhousing so trannies would interchange. Internally they had larger bores and shorter strokes, better lubrication and improved head design but still an old Chevy style. I don't think any of the parts will interchange from a 235 to a 194, 230 or 250. Others will provide detailed info if you feel you want it. If I were you and didn't know I'd take a couple of measurements of what you now have and do some checking before purchasing. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | 53 is right. None of the parts interchange but to see the manifolds by there self its hard to tell the difference. Like he says it would be wise to take some measurements with you. You can't always go by the seller. Never ask "will this fit XXXX. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | I believe you are mainly asking about the manifolds. 216 and 235 intake manifolds are round on the inside, were they attach to the head, 194-292s are rectangle.

The ports on both the 235 style and the 260 style are rectangular, but the center two siamesed ports (for 2-3 and 4-5) are relatively wider on the 250 style. Carry a spare set manifold gaskets to the swap meets to tell for sure. Hoyt | | |
