Is there a whole rearend form another truck..or car that would somewhat "bolt" in or at least be an easier mod then a overdrive. right now I'm going to getting the 3.38 gears for my truck (1960 C-10, 4spd) but I would like to see if I can find one with a bit lower gear ratio. I wish I had the 3spd on the tree I'd just get a OD tranny and bolt it right up but I haven't been able to find a OD tranny with the same length tailhousing as mine! uggh. (have the short tailhousing as most of you know with the 4 spd OTF) So once again I seek your words of wisdom, thanks! -Danny

It should bolt right up to your Chevy suspension. Make sure the one you get is 3.07 because there were lower geared options. | | |

It took a bracket kit & adjustable panhard bar. It took a high qualified welder to put on the brackets. Worked out real good. What about an s-10 5 speed. That,s what i put in mine. Getting the driveshaft modified is no big deal.

Maybe one or the other was offered with either set up available,but I was always told the Chevies were coil,the Jimmies were leaf. Like wrenchbender says-it just takes a bracket kit to make the swap. no big deal. I had a 3.55 posi from a '69 four wheeler swapped into my first '62,it took the guy about 3 hours,cuz he cut the mounts off my old axle and welded 'em onto the new one.

I've not confirmed that, but most likely you can find examples of both if you look long enough.
