The bottom of the whole meets the lip that runs around the top of the cab on my 66 GMC. This is an immediate repair im wanting to do and will be tackling it by myself. So im just wondering what you guys would do and some dos and donts for this kinda repair....Also what kinda damage and things do i need to look for from this hole thats been there for who knows how long.

You have to make sure you "tack" it. You must keep from warping the roof. Clean the rust, if any, the best you can. I you can spray and rust converter in the hole, I would. You will have to remove the headliner and grind both sides of the damage. Contact one of the sellers in the swap meet section for a patch panel so you have an exact match and carefully trace out the area to be removed. Die grind and then tack weld making sure you do not warp the metal. There is lots of information on this process. Good luck! | | |
