I thought they were all 14 spline. I thought I would have to cut the bearing retainer and I won't have to, it's the same length as my '62 tranny!
Do you go into a FLAPS and ask for a clutch and pressure plate for an '85 S-10? Will this fit on a '56 passenger 235 and flywheel? I'm out of my time period here, the 'newest' piece I have on my '49 3100 is a '62 transmission. Thanks for the advice. I did a search but saw no mention of a 26 spline S-10 tranny, I thought they (the 26's) were all Camaro/Bird T-5's.

TAG numbers are the ones that can accurately identify the T5 box. The cast numbers on top of the case are not. A 1985 S10 box...1352-145, should have 14 splines and a short tailshaft, a mechanical speedo setup, and would not fit without modification. It is classified as a Non World Class (NWC)T5. The T5 was used in GM, Nissans, Fords,AMC's, Jeeps,Isuzu,TVR and even a Griffith. WC and NWC by application. There are at least 6 different gear ratios. Some are World Class, some Non-World Class. If the bolt pattern matches your bell housing and your shifter is forward, and it fits without modification, you could try the 26 spline Camaro clutch. However, without pulling the top and counting teeth, it will be difficult to determine the ratio. On an 85 T5, you would use your 56 pressure plate and throw-out bearing and match the disc to the diameter of your pressure plate. Wish I could offer more info but this is a new one!! Dave

I lay a straight edge showing the same input shaft/oil slinger cover size. The input shaft that lay on top of tranny is a 10 spline and is the same length as the 26 spline.

The W/C Camaro boxes run an OD ratio of .63 to .86. First gear ratios from 4.03 to 2.95.
A .86 ratio would have you turning 2601 rpm's at 70 mph with your combo, and 1950 rpm's with the .63 OD. Hopefully, it isn't a .63 OD as that would have you down to 1633 at 60 mph. You'd have a 4 speed with an extremely tall OD. I got caught in that trap!!
Also.....take a peak inside the speedo output hole and see if the speedo drive gear is repositioned on the output shaft so you can run your mechanical speedo.
Either way, I'd do a little back yard detective work...spin the shaft to determine your final drive ratio. Sure would be nice if everything fell into place and it was a straight bolt-up!!! Hope this helps.

If you use this transmission you'll want to get the correct size pilot/clutch bushing as well, the stock bushing in your truck (and for the S-10 input shaft) is 1".

I built a t-5 with the 26 spline input. It fits my truck like a glove. You are right the bearing retainer is the right length so no modifying needed. Plus it has a super sweet 1st gear, and decent close ratios. I have a bunch of info on my web site about the transmission I built.
What size pressure plate do you have? Go to your local FLAPS and ask for some one that can use the books to look up parts. Tell them you pressure plate size and the input spline number. They should be able to find something for you.
I have the small 9 1/4 inch pressure plate and the cosworth vega used a 26 spline tranny and a 9 1/4 inch pressure plate. So far everything works great on the shop floor.
Good luck. You have the best t-5 setup.

Reverse was 2.75 revolutions for one input revolution, again consistent with a Camaro T-5 reverse (2.76). OD was 1 input revolution equalled ~1.6 output revolutions, or, 1.0 divided by 1.6 = .625, a .63 5th gear overdrive. Still have to check to see if the speedometer gear is relocated. Thank you folks!
