I intend on placing a drop in gas tank between the rails in the rear.

what I can't seem to find is a total dimension of.

from the frame rail top to the bottom of the boards in the bed.

I know there is the bed cross sill height and the bed support blocks, to maintain position.

I'm wanting to know how much area above the frame do I have to play with in designing a gas tank mounting set up.

an yeah I know...i shoulda measured before I took off the bed....oh well..live and learn

It depends on the exact location in the rear for your gas tank, but generally if you set the top of the tank even with the top of the frame rails you "should" be OK.

actually I was wanting to raise it just above flush...say about 1.5 inches. The tank is 7.5 thick. It's a donor aluminum.

The frame is right at 6" with the 7.5 I could build a bottom brace and set the tank on straps....if I have a couple of inches to play with between the top of the frame to the bottom of the boards.

Not a great picture, but this is what I'm working with...and believe me it aint that ugly anymore...I need to get a new pic...

a boat...and believe that's all I know...other than it is currently rated for 27 gallons.

I'll have to cut it down a bit to fit in between the rails...no biggie though

It's as clean as a church in there and it has an internal baffle.

I have fit a new sending unit and cleaned up all the plumbing and buffed the tank..it looks pretty darn good now..
