Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 13 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 13 | I would like to change out this 3speed trans to auto trans. I want to know if a 350(auto)trans will fit this straight 6 engine. If not what do I have to do to get started, thanks in advance for your help. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 800 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 800 | You should be good to go. The 350 trans will bolt up to the 230/250/292 series of engines. You can use the same shifter on your column, but you need a couple of pieces to make it work. You can get a Lokar cable shift linkage to make it easier on you. or you can fabricate a rod to make it work. Yiou can probably get a floor shifter for the trans as well if you want to get it done quick and dirty. You may want to call a place like Langdon's or an old-time trans guy. They can tell you what you should be using for a stall speed on your converter. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 63 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 63 | Does it bolt up to a 235?

That is for a V-8 bell housing or the 230/25/292 series of engines. An adapter plate is available from the likes of Bendtsen's Transmissions or Langdon's for the 235 to later transmissions. The Langdon's kit seems to be a much better deal. But it's still over 400 bucks. ANYTHING can be done. It's just always how do you want to spend to do it? | | |
