Hi all,

I have a new to me 64 C10. The passenger side lower control arm is bent bad enough to hinder steering. I can still steer it, but it pulls hard to the right. Does anyone know if I can use a lower control arm from a 73 and up C10? I'm pretty sure a 67-72 will work... but not 100%. 73 and up will be easier to find. Can anyone help?

Just buy a new one from Rock Auto, they are inexpensive......are you sure it is the original front end, is it still 6 lug and drum brakes? Are you planning on putting disc brakes on it. Kieth

You might check with a local salvage yard, have them look it up in Hollanders Interchange to see what years will be compatible. I'd have to look, but I'm thinking there was a change in the bushings from all steel to rubber when the '73s came out. There is a possability that the bushings and balljoints are the only difference. I do know the balljoints can be swapped between them.
Another thing you might do is post in the Parts Wanted section, perhaps someone here has the parts you need. The control arm is not available new.

'73 and up is different. I'm planning on swapping in an '86 front k member and suspension in my '66.

Cool, thanks for the replies. My truck is a project I picked up to restore as I drive. It is very rough. Has been sitting in a field for 9 years. It is all original except for the engine and transmission (250/car 3spd).

As for getting parts from a yard, I don't mind swapping in 73-up arms as long as I know they will fit.

I contemplated buying the stuff for a disc swap, but my ultimate goal is to do a 4X4 conversion. I just want to make it a reliable driver in the mean time. Now, if I got the disc conversion parts for dirt cheap, then that would be a different story.

73 and up will work but the BJ on them are different and also the shafts are also are different. If it were me, and i wanted close or exact to stock, I would go with a 63-72 arm. This might be a good Opportunity to change to disc brakes.
