Looking for info on the cab utility tray
The part number may be RPO 987493. I am a sheet metal fabricator and would like to fab some of these. I could use dimensions and photos.

I don't have any information on a factory tray, but we did fabricate one of our own design for mine. Tray pic 1, tray pic 2, tray pic 3. The whole thing is mounted to the floor with 4 1/4-20 bolts. We sized it to be about 1" wider than the tank, with about 1" clearance above the line coming out of the top of the tank.

That is a nice tray, is that aluminum?

Larry, what manual did you get that page from? The picture in Photobucket is much to small and to low of a resolution to make out any detail.

And Bill, what did you mount the tray to?

Yep, that'll do it William, thanks for the link. And it appears that ya go three screw heads pokin' out the back side of the truck after you mount the try in place. I'm not to nuts about that.
Since I don't know squat outside of the AD, I'm assuming that by 1957 the seat folded forward???

I noted the screw head problem Denny, but I believe it could be attached without doing that .... yes, hinged seat backs from 55 onward .... instead of the tray, I added a plywood 'shelf' that sits on top the tank full width, does the job well

Denny, the side panels on my tray go all the way to the floor. It doesn't rest on the tank at all, and it isn't attached to the rear cab wall. I'll try to get some pics up showing how it's mounted.

That sounds a little more friendly Bill. As you may recall I'm mostly into the AD's but I have seen a couple of examples of the mods so the seat folds forward on them, Pete52 for one. And Pete has a wood shelf behind his seat similar to the Squeezer. I'm always collecting ideas so I'll add these to my reference files. If I can ever get out from under these dang radios I'm buried in I might get back to actually working on the truck proper.

sorry Tim, but lots of changes since 2011, the old Webshots doesn't exist any more, squeezes host dropped the mars.ark name, and Photobuckt rearranged things .... currently, the Opera community host is folding up, so my albums linked below will be gone by March, working on transfering them to Flicker .... always potholes and detours on this info highway

which just points out if folks see linked pics they want, copy them to your HD while you can

I do have an accessory manual with that schematic. At the beginning of this thread, Camore said he was looking for a utility tray. He explained he is a metal fabricator and wanted to make some trays.

I was wondering if he ever found one or get the specifications. I'd like to come by one for my truck.

Copying that sort of stuff to a reference file has always been
a habit of mine even when the digital age was going thru
puberty. First camera was the DC40 then a few months later
a DC120. Still have some pictures stored on a floppy from
that. Those pictures probably look like the checker board
floor at Classic Parts compared to the hi-res stuff we're
used to today.
What's always been my downfall is not flossing, and---not
backing up my HD. So---I've got several old hard drives
sitting on the shelf in the basement with stuff like we are
taking about on them. Had a bunch of my photos on Webshots
when I first joined the 'bolt but they all got lost when it
folded. One of the bolters gave me a couple of old obsolete
Dell's last year and when the snow gets to be knee deep this
winter and my wood pile is used up heating the barn, I'm
gonna spend some time down in the man cave and try to
recover some of those old photos.
Some people never learn, me for one, I still haven't backed up
my new confuser and it's got a year and a half's worth of
work on it. Ya see, I can't get it to recognize that monster
external drive I bought for the old system, to many bits in
the new Dell for it to chew, or something like that. And I
ain't about to start storing anything of mine out there on a
cloud, they already own enough of me.

So, I've got all those pictures from this Utility Tray thread,
in a file, on a HD, somewhere in a box, on some shelf in the
dark corner of the basement.

Long winded aren't I! Just killin' time while I build up the
courage to go spend the next 12 hours in that cold, cold
barn. Burned up two pair of cotton gloves in the microwave
yesterday in an attempt to get some feeling in my fingers
so I could twist wire nuts out there.

Nah, don't need any more gimmicks in the tool box, besides, I
taint twistin' all that many connections.
Never knew that accessory was offered by Chevy, but then again,
I'm never been able to move my interest in Chevy trucks past
early '55.
