Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 40 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 40 | When my truck comes back from the body shop, I'm going to relocate the gas tank to the rear (betweeen axle and bumper) to give myself more room in the cab. i've seen several people use blazer style tanks, and I've seen people use the generic type fuel cell from summit. Does anyone have any good advice on a fuel tank that fits with little modification and has a fairly convenient fuel filler location? If you have pics of your setup, it'd be incredibly helpful. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 | "Little modification".... well that means different things to different people. I've seen several of the straps that just require drilling and bolting. I expect to have to either create a fuel filler door in the bed or on the rear fender somewhere. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 403 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 403 | Moving the tank will create some changes to storage area under the rear frame. There are two things that I like about a welded S/S Tank. First there will be no cracking as with Aluminum or Poly tanks if you happen to drag bottom. The second thing you have to choose where you are and how you are going to get fuel into the tank may it be left, right through the bed or out the back. The next step which a lot of guys do not figure on is a filteration system incase the fueling station has sediment in their tanks or water in them. The filter I use in a 100 micron filter with a screen in which you can clean out by the tank. By using AN fittings it drops right out by your tank and you do not have trash in your line and fuel pump going up to your carb filter. The tank I have was made to bolt to your frame rails. 62Blue Don
