I have an exhaust leak coming from 2 spots where the manifold meets the head. I plan on taking the manifold to a machine shop to get it trued but I am still paranoid. I read that the new gaskets are half as thick as NOS ones. Are there any places selling the properly thick gaskets?

PSK-235-261 It's pretty impressive, nearly 3/16" thick. I didn't use it, though, the stock Fel-pro gasket worked fine. So all I have to go on is how it looks. regards, Leon | | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 13 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 13 | I had the same problem when I up-dated my engine from a 1950 235 cu.in to a 1961 Cu.in. using the 1950 intake/exhaust manifolds.
After dressing all the surface areas, and putting the manifolds back together, I just couldn`t get a proper seal. Finally I loosened the bolts and nuts which hold the exhaust to the intake manifold, re-alligned the manifolds to the block, tightened all the manifold bolts, and lastly, re- tightened the intake to exhaust manifold bolts. (solved the problem). | | |
