On the 216 engine that is in my 46 there is a fair bit of wear on the starter side of the ring gear,I would say 20% of the tooth has been worn back. I did take a photo but it is too blurry to see. After looking at the one on the 235 I have this wear seems excessive.Any suggestions as to a cause or could it be normal . Thanks

First time I saw this truck I said "That's the one!"

I would have a look at your starter to see if the drive is worn. It probably has been grinding your ring gear. I don't think it is normal to have that much missing.
