I have just received my 4th part that has a manufacturing defect from them. No problems with returns, but I am getting tired of returning!! This time it is a door control for the drivers side. Part is clearly marked "L" but it is made with right hand parts. And the way it is made won't work on the right side either. They used parts from both sides! Where the hell is the quality control????   | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 | IMO, it's all the same Chinese junk from all suppliers. That's why NOS stuff brings big bucks on ePay. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | Will it work like this Could they have sent you the wrong year control? at some point it changed to this maybe it doesn’t make a difference I've about given up on repo parts also. Lately been getting parts from s.wap meet section of the forum. Picked up original headlight bucket, door lock, ignition, ignition bracket, 235 motor mounts, fuse holder, regulator, gauge light sockets, original is my first choice now. But I have probably put a few overseas kids through college in the past few years. To thier credit Classic and others have the refund process perfected. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 111 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 111 | Dad It needs to be like the first pic. It does look like the second pic, but you would have to push the lever to the front to open the door. That is not correct, I think!! Also, if the control is installed like the second pic the door panel will contact the mechanism. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | Ive used parts from all of them & don't seem to have any problems. I'm right close to LMC & Classic parts so if I would I could march right back. If you want me to examine a part before you buy it I usually could. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 393 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 393 |
It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.

Mine was missing. Had to make one ...pic..click... Maybe someone can advise on a part number for your year truck. Good Luck | | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 | Strange... When I got my 49, it had 2 right-hand door relays. The left door handle would latch in the open position, and spring out of the locked position. While hunting through the pick-and-pull, I found an old AD and decided to take the door relay.... It had 2 LEFT-hand relays! Weird!
Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice) \'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run. My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but ignorance means you don't know you can't do something.

So. On my 48 do I look for the horizonal bars to be from the top or bottom of the handle - over to the mechanism. Looks like they run from the bottom of the handle mechanism to the latch mechanism.
thanks again

I tried to search for an answer, but I must be using the search feature wrong, because every time I use it I get 40 pages of everything BUT what I am searching for. This is a pertanant quote from that thread... "The part is listed in the catalogues for '47 - '55 1st. There isn't a specific part for th '47 to mid year '49. So I guess I got the only part that is available" and this... "The early ones had the link running parallel to the opening. They were changed mid-year in '49 for what ever reason is anybody’s guess and one is as good as the other. Regardless of the reasoning, I don't think they wanted to retool the inner doorframe so it was left as is and a fiber pad was glued to the frame where the rod crosses over so it won't rattle. The link sitting at and angle was how all of the later ones were till the end of the run". And yes the door panel interferes with the control if it is mounted this way, so the spacer mentioned above would be required. | | |
