Surfing the internet I found that my sm420 with casting number 591907 is from 1951.

Is that good?

Well they may be bullet proof but some of them leaked fluid out the front shaft and clutches don't like the stuff! Somewhere in the mid fifties they changed the design to include a front seal. The previous versions used an oil slinger.
