Almost ready to start my engine. Replaced the 235 engine in my '55 chevy 1st series with a 235 engine from a '60 chevy truck. Engine installed and a few more things to do. The water pump on the '60 235 had a long shaft. Called a supplier for a short shaft water pump replacement. Pump is on back order. I am excited to start the '60 engine. Will the water pump from the '55 235 bolt to the '60 235?

1955 1st series PU uses a 1953-54 pump and will not fit a 2nd series 55 though 62 engine, with out using an adapter.

Well it will fit but you could run into over heating problems unless you use the adapter mentioned above. I have one on my 62 engine in my 54 and it does set low and I had to by pass the heater. I did this a long time ago before I ever heard of the adapter plate. Works ok for short trips but I recommend you get get the plate.
