Well after awhile of not logging in, finally got my 51 over to my new house and started working on it again. I sandblasted and painted most of the engine except the block. Not original colors but I thought Id give it a lil twist.

I like it. The valve cover and side cover look nice powder coated with a semi gloss black too. Nice job on the red lettering.

Thanx 53moneypit. I was only going to do the valve cover but since I have access to a sandblaster at work I figured why not. Not sure what to work on next after the engine is done. Maybe rewire the truck.

Looks very nice. How did you accomplish painting the lettering?

Thanx DrewP. I used 3 inch wide blue painters masking tape. I worked the tape as much as I could into the tight spaces.
Then I used an Exacto knife to carefully trace out the outline of the script and slowly peeled it off,exposing the raised letters.
Then I just scuffed th script down with sandpaper and gave it a couple of coats of chevy orange/red engine paint
