I was told I could not use the generator pulley, but I just went back out to try it (which I should have done in the first place) with a shim and it seems to be OK. Very little shaft left for lock washer and the nut, but I expect I can use Locktite on the nut! I ran it for a little bit in the garage and no probs! Did not like the pulley set-up from the generator. Not many threads holding the nut on. Found a replacement online, works much better. Also the cooling fan is incorporated with the stock pulley and is too small for the alt. Purchased a new fan with the pulley. Modified the original generator brackets to use on the alternator. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | FYI, if you put the lock washer behind the pulley instead of the nut, the fan spacing if fine and there will be enough threads for the nut. With a dab of Lock-tite and all is well.
