Okay I've looked through several search posts and have not found a definate answer to my question so I thought I would ask a question that has probably been asked before.

Is there any specific vehicles I can look for to swap out the rearend on my '65 C-10? I'm not sure what rear end I have (truck isn't at the house) but I know it's not a posi-traction rearend. I would prefer to put in a posi-traction rear end but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I can't.

I'm also looking to install disc brakes on the front as well as power steering. If there's one vehicle I can find all of my parts I would consider buying a complete parts vehicle.

I should probably give full details of what I'm planning on doing with this truck. The engine will be a 331 Hemi with a Chrysler A727 automatic transmission. This isn't a big powerhouse combination, I'm just looking for something that I can drive 70 mph on the highway and get better than 10 mpg... hopefully something around 18-20 mpg.

Thanks.

Lee

Not from the first response I got here... my truck needs an engine rebuild, I've got this one rebuilt already from a previous abandoned project. The hemi was going to go into a Studebaker Lark... I think I actually heard people scream when I posted that idea over there.

It's either that or do something completely different and throw a 350 in it <G>.

Yeah, I was gonna offer advice til I saw the Chrysler part. grin But I guess since I do own an(inherited) Ford product I will offer my 2 cents. A front crossmember from 71-87 C10 will bolt in & give you discs. PS from same truck using a REZ kit. the rear you have is pretty strong, & an Eaton posi will do well. You can also swap in a 73-87 rear but need to re-configure the mounting perches. My 350/700R4 in my 64 gets 18 mpg, not sure if that is possible w/o the overdrive. Brian
