This stuff is amazing. (Keep in mind i just applied it today.)
So here's my story. I have a 52 1/2 ton. My wife and I bought it from my wife's cousin. Basically its an AWESOME barn find. All original glass & metal. No major dents. Just a lot of surface rust, BUT no rot.
So i researched products to treat the frame and decided on the KBS 3 step system. So i wire brushed the frame, then started with their process. Cleaner, Surface etcher, and paint. Now i am not doing a complete restoration. Basically i've got the truck on jack stands. i'm doing as much as i can without pulling the entire truck apart.
The cleaner: Spray it on. scrub scrub scrub. keep it wet. don't let it dry. scrub scrub scrub...then rinse. ( i used a pesticide sprayer for both application and rinsing.
Etcher: Spray it on, let it sit. keep re-applying. ( i kept the frame wet for about an hour.) then rinse.
Paint: once its totally dry, you will see a slight power all over what you spray. the etcher has a high phosphorus level in it. Anyway, stir it up, put some gloves on and start painting. you can spray, but i don't have those means right now.
So i will say, due to the fact i'm having to lay under it, its a real pain in the [censored]! BUT!...i love the result. it's self leveling. no brush marks. covers great. i got 1 qt of paint. i think i have enough to do the entire underneath of the car. i highly recommend you try this stuff. It almost looks like a rubberized undercoating. the consistency is thicker than auto paint, but thinner than epoxy.

I am restoring an old indy style pedal car for my kids and in the process I am testing out different techniques and different products to later use on my truck. I just applied brush on valspar Rust Stop oil based gloss black coating. Its pretty cool tool dries like ceramic tile would describe it best. same thing though self leveling no brush marks smooth as glass. it was 10 bux for a quart. check it out @ northern tool

You could probably get the same results using a good degreaser, a phosphoric-acid based rust neutralizer (Ospho or Kwik-Strip metal etch from Home Despot), and Zero-Rust (see the tech section) or POR 15.
I'm interested to see how it looks in a few days, and how it performs over time.
