Just picked up 1941 Truck. Have to assume 1/2 ton from look at rear end. The number stamped on block right behind Distributor on Passenger side says BA682343. Which is the same number on the Title. It is an inline 6. Help?! http://s1191.photobucket.com/albums/z468/MortgageLaw/1941%20Chevy%20Truck/ | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Nice truck. That looks like a Packard steering wheel.
I have an engine book at the shop so I can't look it up for you now. Someone probably will soon though. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,554 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,554 | Looks 216 to me and from the numbers it appears it is original as far as I can tell. I'm not an authority here, others will tell you the exact info. So, the code says 1942 216. So, can a 1941 have a 1942 engine, I think so. Well, it is a great start. Now, to get this engine rebuilt. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Your truck may actually be a '42, rather than a '41. Some states used to title the vehicle based on what year it was sold, rather than what model year the vehicle really was. With most manufacturers putting the next years model out usually between late August to early December, it's entirely possible for a '42 to get registered as a '41 if it was sold prior to the calender year change. It shouldn't make much difference in this case, as the '42 was essentially a carryover of the '41.

thank you | | | | | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 137 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 137 | I'd like to better understand the connection between the heater location and the ID tag. Can you explain please, and perhaps show a picture or two? Thanks | | |
