Ok, need help. Just picked up 1941 Truck. Have to assume 1/2 ton from look at rear end.

The number stamped on block right behind Distributor on Passenger side says BA682343. Which is the same number on the Title. It is an inline 6. Help?!

Nice truck. That looks like a Packard steering wheel.

I have an engine book at the shop so I can't look it up for you now. Someone probably will soon though.

Looks 216 to me and from the numbers it appears it is original as far as I can tell. I'm not an authority here, others will tell you the exact info. Dave

Looks like your link to the spec sheet hits it on the head. So, the code says 1942 216. So, can a 1941 have a 1942 engine, I think so. Well, it is a great start. Now, to get this engine rebuilt.

Your truck may actually be a '42, rather than a '41. Some states used to title the vehicle based on what year it was sold, rather than what model year the vehicle really was. With most manufacturers putting the next years model out usually between late August to early December, it's entirely possible for a '42 to get registered as a '41 if it was sold prior to the calender year change. It shouldn't make much difference in this case, as the '42 was essentially a carryover of the '41.

Starting to make since given the numbers on the engine etc. One I remove the aftermarket heater I will have access to the plate the trucks serial number should be on, assuming it is still there and under it I will confirm.

thank you

I'd like to better understand the connection between the heater location and the ID tag. Can you explain please, and perhaps show a picture or two?
Thanks
