Hi,
I've got a 45 2 ton with a 235. My plan is to swap in a 86 305v8. So anything you learn would be helpful to me. So far I have not pulled either engine so I can't say about tranny boltup or such. For now I am working on the left motomount wedge. I plan to leave the orig. steering gearbox where it is and that's right in the way. With luck, I'll be able to work something out.
Let me know how your project workes out.

BTW are you westriver or east. My roots are in Sturgis and that's were my 45 sat for nearly 50 years.

You will need a V8 bellhousing. Measure the transmission input shaft to make sure the hole is the right diameter on the bellhousing, there were two differant sizes.

I have read somewhere that the 2 motor mounts( 1 short and 1 long)you have now. Will be no good to you, well thats half true. You will need 2 of the long ones. This will give you the set up for an 8 cyl....

I am pulling this from the back of my mind and I am offering this info and stating "Don't quote me on this tho'"
