The forward engine mount is located below the balancer. Two bolts pointing down in the mount for engine attachment. There appears to be a bolt in the center of the mount attaching to the engine. The 1960 235 engine is replacing is a 1955 235 engine. The 1955 engine mount did not have the center bolt. I thought both mounts were the same. I want to remove the mount on the 1960 235 and use the mount from the 1955 235. Are these mounts interchangeable and why is there the center bolt on the 1960 235? I have a shop manual for my 1955 but not for the 1960? Looking for some advise. Thanks......

Maybe your engine has a universal mount; the single mount for larger trucks and the double for the pick-up type truck. I don't see why it wouldn't work as is.

The rubber on the 1960 engine mount has seen better days. Finally got the mount removed.

Napa guy suggested wrecking yards. Really do not want a used one. Checked all the usual parts suppliers locally and on the web. Anybody have a suggestion for a source. thanks.

Maybe I'm not very clear in the decription of the needed part. I'm looking for the rubber motor mount that attaches the engine to the frame. The existing rubber mount has a hole in the center for attachment to the engine and two studs for attachment to the frame. I have a 55 1st series that I put a 62 235, using the 235 mount for the 55 1st. Everything bolted right up and set rght in place with no problems. Did have to use the short shaft water pump for correct clearance. | | |
