I'm preparing to install a 1960 235 engine in my truck. The forward engine mount is located below the balancer. Two bolts pointing down in the mount for engine attachment. There appears to be a bolt in the center of the mount attaching to the engine. The 1960 235 engine is replacing is a 1955 235 engine. The 1955 engine mount did not have the center bolt. I thought both mounts were the same. I want to remove the mount on the 1960 235 and use the mount from the 1955 235. Are these mounts interchangeable and why is there the center bolt on the 1960 235? I have a shop manual for my 1955 but not for the 1960? Looking for some advise. Thanks......

My 1960 261 had a single bolt front mount with the bolt threading into the front engine plate from below. Maybe your engine has a universal mount; the single mount for larger trucks and the double for the pick-up type truck. I don't see why it wouldn't work as is.

Do you realize that to change that plate you need to remove the lifters and cam?

And most likely the oil pan to get at the two bottom timing cover bolts, unless that's been changed already.

I just want a new motor mount. The rubber on the 1960 engine mount has seen better days. Finally got the mount removed.

Trying to find a replacement front motor mount for the 1960 235 engine. Called NAPA. No luck. Napa guy suggested wrecking yards. Really do not want a used one. Checked all the usual parts suppliers locally and on the web. Anybody have a suggestion for a source.
thanks.

That part on eBay is on my engine and in great shape. Maybe I'm not very clear in the decription of the needed part. I'm looking for the rubber motor mount that attaches the engine to the frame. The rubber on my existing part is in bad shape.

Thanks Homer, but that is not the same part. The existing rubber mount has a hole in the center for attachment to the engine and two studs for attachment to the frame. The engine is a 1960 235.

I see the Filling Station has a re-vulcanizing service for your mount. LINK

You didn't specify whether your truck is a 1st or 2nd series. I have a 55 1st series that I put a 62 235, using the 235 mount for the 55 1st. Everything bolted right up and set rght in place with no problems. Did have to use the short shaft water pump for correct clearance.
