Brought my 61 Apache half ton to a shop my neighbor uses. My tranny was not good and they said they could handle it. Now 7 weeks later they are saying it's not the T 89 BW they thought it was? The parts they are ordering are not fitting and they think it's been modified in some way to work with the 327 engine.I am totally confused and I think they are too.Why is this so confusing for them? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

get some numbers off it, look for date codes - maybe some PO replaced it with the later [68+] all syncro version

I don't have codes at hand, but you'll find some ID info here ... one clue is the number of bolts on the side cover, 4 [early and your BW] or 7 ['heavy duty' and later Saginaw], but there are 2 versions of the earlier trans

if you write codes out and ask here, someone should be able to help
