I've tried different copper washers and have flattened out the surface of the old t-block. Has anyone used washers made of different material, or should i just buy a new t-block and washers? thanks | | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 83 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 83 | I recently replaced the brake hoses on my '41 with no problems. Are you sure the leak is coming from the junction of the T-block and the hose? If so, and you're sure the parts are good and clean and the hose is screwed down tight, then you may need either a new T-block, washer, or hose. I'd be leary of using a washer made from something else for fear the brake fluid would eat it away over time. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 | I have had old & new washers leak. The only thing I have found to fix them is rub them on the concrete floor (yep you read that correctly i have done that also with success. i think on the floor the washers scuffs up enough and evenly to get it to seal properly. the floor makes an excelent sanding block. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,544 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,544 | Make sure the threads on the bolt are clean, also make sure surfaces are mating square. Sometimes over tightening can cause minor leaks also. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 98 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 98 | thanks for the tips. i'll give them a try this weekend. | | |
