I have a 327 Double Hump in my '40. Used a Saginaw type pump which has a simple 3 bolt bracket mounting to lower block holes on drivers side. Saginaw style pumps were used for many years - kinda looks like a canned ham ! Can get them in black finish or chromed.

I think thru most of the '60's into the '70's. Do a search on Saginaw PS Pumps - you will get lots of hits. Watch the model # as they were also used on a few other non-GM vehicles. Not sure, but they may even have been factory stock on the 283 & 327 motors.

I bought the "Alan Grove" brand PS bracket for my truck and it comes with a paper showing what years and details of all the saginaw pumps. I have no way of scanning or posting it though .

The canned ham pumps run mostly through the 1970s. In 1976 or 1977, GM went metric on their fittings, so you'll have to match the hoses to whatever box you are using. Just worry about the pressure side. Use the fitting that is on the pump for the return.
Use some type of clamping arrangement to keep the hoses from rubbing on anything. If you stay with GM stuff everything works, unlike adapting other brands of pump.

best wishes,

Les

You don't say so but most non drilled and tapped heads used the short waterpump. When looking for brackets or pumps this is the main question you will asked: short or long pump. The short pump set up was used on cars through 1968 and trucks through 1972. The pump is easy to identify because it has a keyway in the shaft and pulley and a self locking nut to hold the pulley on. Later ones have pressed on pulleys even though they have a canned ham shape.

Well mine must be newer cause I had to pull the pully off,and it looks like a canned ham.
Just got the brackets in today from e-bay so i'll try to make them fit. The short WP and double hump heads makes it hard to get the right brackets, even for the alt. I think I have them this time (not much BLING but they work)
Cross your fingers and thanks for the help everybody!
