I'm removing the hubs on my '42, 3/4 ton to install some new lug studs and I need to know how to adjust the stock ball bearings-for now.

I wonder if Timken(Or any American manufacturer) makes replacement roller bearings. Anyone know a part # ?

It was interesting to read the service manual description. It was very much the way I was taught to tighten a wheel bearing by an excellent factory trained mechanic. Make sure the bearing is seated, then back off, stopping on the snug side. I never thought about how snugging the bearing would allow for a "wear-in" fit.

One of the things a guy can still do on a vehicle old or new is brakes and this practice has always served me well. Thanks for that link.

Check your numbers carefully.

The SKF bearings listed above could be for a 1/2 ton instead of a 3/4 ton.

yeah, those bearing numbers [B52/B67] are for 1/2T for sure
