I'm in need of some help. I'm restoring a 1954 chevy 3100 truck. I removed the front brake drums and found that the hubs are part of the drums. I went to carquest to get new ones drums, no problem, $33.98 the machine said they could NOT remove the old hubs because they did not have the tools to do so anymore. Has anyone run into this problem before? Any advice would be awesome.
Thank you Chevytruckdaddy.

Chisel off the 2 or 3 rivet heads on the outer face of the drum. The 2 pieces will then come apart. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 205 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 205 | Ok Awesome, I can grind the rivets off with my grinder. How do I put them back together?

Your wheels will hold them in place. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,557 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,557 | I drilled through mine, then whacked the heads off with a chisel.

I have the exact issue but I cannot find the drum to use for my 5 4 3/4 hub. The drum I had was like 12 inches by 3 inches deep I believe.

Not long ago I remember someone here had found a really nice substitute but I can't remember who/where. Check the one ton forum or ask a question there. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2014 Posts: 49 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2014 Posts: 49 | Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The drum is a 5 4 3/4 bolt pattern, probably should have mentioned before so that everyone didn't have to waste anytime. I ended up doing a bunch of leg work which seems pretty typical with this old truck, seems like a going theme on this message board in fact. Part of the fun huh? Anyway, it turns out this drum is from a Chevy car, bel air or biscayne to be exact. Around 67-68 per the dimensions of the thing. I am crossing my fingers In hopes that's the one I ordered from summit is the right one. Ready to have some forward progress on this suspension/ front end/brake job.
