webstershotrods,

When you check for price/availability, would you please find out the top dimensions? If the battery terminals come through the holes shown on the top of the 6v topper, that top might not fit on a 6v Optima placed diagonally in an Advance-Design battery tray.

The price directly from Tar Topper looks a lot better.

New Castle Battery which is now Axion Battery Co. is a long time manufacturer of antique battery styles with modern power. Here's their web,Turbostart.

The Optima battery will not fit in an Advance-Design battery tray... I measured it for the 54...

Turbostart has three 6 volt batteries all for Fords,Ford 2HF, Ford 2LF. Ford Model A ...

I have used Optima 6v battery in my 1954 Chevrolet trucks' battery trays, using the original battery hold down. As I posted above, the 6v Optima has to be placed on the diagonal on the original tray.

I also am able to use the 6v Optima in the stock battery tray on my 54/55 6v (positive ground) New Design GMC COE's battery tray.

I talked with the TARTOPPER company salesperson today. They will not make a 6 volt cover any time soon. There reason was tooling is to expensive and economy also is to bad .
I may try to make my own later will post pictures when I get the time to fabricate one.
