My sweet wife got me a floorpan replacement panel for my '65 Chevy 1/2 ton for Christmas. It is the more expensive OE version from LMC that has welded-on nuts for the removable transmission hump. My problem is that my floor doesn't have a removable tranny hump. Will this thing fit my truck if I cut off the area with the welded nuts? I am impressed with the thickness of this part. Jim

I don't see why it wouldn't work-I put a low hump floor in my burb, originally it was a tall 4 speed floor. All I changed was the hump.

Be prepared, it probably won't fit no matter what...So far, every panel I've bought has been at best an approxamation of the original part. I've had a few that were so far off, it was like somebody had made it with a faded polaroid of the original as their only reference! wink But they are still a hell of alot better than starting form scratch with a flat piece of sheet steel.

That said, don't be afraid to cut pieces to fit! This truck is teh first real auto body metal work I've done, the first few times I cut either my new parts or the truck herself, I was super nervous. Now its no big deal, cut, weld, grind, on to the next bit. I would also get a set of body hammers and dollys, I have the el cheapo set from Harbor Freight, and it has been invaluable. Takes a lot more time than I thought, but it has been a lot of fun.

Thats way more info than you wanted, sorry!

odd your hump isn't removable, i thought they all were- low, high or big truck flat. replacing floor pans or rocker panels is not my favorite job! i agree with the comments about some lmc not fitting as well as oem.

I was going to replace the tall hump in Deb's pick up with a low one and the one I went to get the low one out of wasn't removable. I guess some were and some weren't but I wouldn't know what the breakout would be.

The four speed transmisions came with the removable high hump for the extra room it needed and to access the top of the tranny. The three speeds came with the low non removale hump because it didn't need the extra room and the top of the tranny isn't accessable.

Thanks for the post Chetman, I am about to purchase some sheet metal from LMC and am glad to hear the parts are a good heavy gauge metal. Best of luck with your floor pans, its like Erik said you just have to jump in and start cutting and welding and like Grandad told me " measure twice and cut once ".
