I've noticed on most '37 Chevy trucks that the turn signals are not installed on top of the head lamps, anyone know where they would typically be installed?

Thanks in advance.

where ever the owner wanted them [usually on top the fenders], there was none available from GM, not even much in the way of aftermarket ones until after the war ... the small lights on top the headlights of later trucks weren't signals, just parking lights

A lot of guys use the fender mount park lights. The repops have a clear nose on the lens that makes them more visible in the daylight. Below you can see how they are mounted. <CLICK>

I used some from a '40 I think, they were on the front fenders when I bought the truck. I have a 12 volt system and use #1157 bulbs in front and rear lamps.

'40 was the first time they had factory mounted parking lights on the fenders. '41 thru '46 had the lights built in to the top of the headlight buckets. When I did mine, I rewired them to dual function turn & park lights. They have clear lenses.
If you are " rodding " your truck there are a few aftermarket options, including 12v headlights with signals built in.

Ditto britcon, I'd go with the integral units if I had a '37 - trick design but still original looking.

I have two small amber lights mounted on the bumper brackets for the front and wired in on the tail lights,I have seen some Guide headlights with a parking light on top that I would like to get for my 37 for a more period look.

The stock headlight reflectors had parking light bulbs at the top that could be used as turn signals and also the parking lights if you used a two filament bulb.
On the rear I have seen them on each side of the rear window, mounted in the window, or with two tail lights.

I want to think everyone for their responses.I think I like the idea of mounting the front turn sisnals to the bumper brackets. The only problem would be a bteakage threat that close to the bumper. Thank You 1311 from SOONER LAND.

By golly you appear to be correct. Some of you guys know way too much about these old vehicles.

They are also similar to the optional tail lights found on A-D panels and Suburbans.

1311 I hit a nest of those aftermarket arrow lights with that little visor on them cute light but I wonder if they are bright enough to be seen in modern high speed traffic situations/Most fenders here in the midwest have had a turn signal installed. Back in the fifties alot of signal stat turn signal controls were installed .Then the hogs would rip the wiring off I think because of road salt !

I went 12v with a new set of reflectors with halogens. The park light socket is used for blinkers with yellow bulbs. Rear it’s just a matter of rewiring to use dual filament. Look more original than many other alternatives
