Or you could buy the whole panel, LMC has it for '53 ? Think its the same? Really expensive though ! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | The 47-53 dash letters are available.
Colokeb has asked about 1954 letters. They are not the same as 47-53 dash letters (which are available in either black or white as decals for $2.99 plus shipping).

I have not talked to here, neither do I have a 54, but I mentioned wanting to do something one day and my wife said to ask "michelle" as she could do "wonders" on here vinyl cutting apparatus at home. Mabye someone like this could cut you some if they know the size?
....there I go, thinking again. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 55 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 55 | You could always do what I'm doing with mine for my '52. I'm going to clean the part up really good and powdercoat the letters in...gives me many more options for colors that way too! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | You are powder-coating the lettering on your dash?

I know I have an extra piece around here that I can use. Also have an extra General Motors one..........I'll take a before & after pic and let y'all see how great the product looks. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | I do not know about the lettering on a 1952 dash (they must be on a piece of metal that comes off easily); however, the original question is about a 1954 dash. The letters are embossed into a 1954 dash.
Decals are available for a 1952 dash, but powder-coating sounds nice if the piece with the letters on it can be removed for powder coating.

Found my spare dashboard piece for the AD's and the weather was nice enough today in Virginia to let me get the powdercoating of the letters done. I simply shot these in matte black as that color seems to be what was applied at the factory. Obviously, I could put ANY color wanted in there for a completely custom look! Next projects are to powdercoat the bowtie and letters on an AD hood ornament then a set of hubcaps. http://s1111.photobucket.com/albums/h479/52Mark/1952%20Chevy%20Truck%20Project/ | | | | | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 1,300 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 1,300 | How are you baking it on after you spray it? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 1,300 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 1,300 | I get it after seeing the pics. 54 is completely different. It is just stamped into the dash face. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | As I said before, Verrrrry interesting. If you cured these in an old kitchen stove oven then I think its time I get my eastwood kit down, after 8 years, and use it. I finally had a lady give me a kitchen stove when she remodeled.
Tell us more 52Mark. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 55 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 55 | Exactly as you stated Achipmunk. I have a kitchen stove in my shop that was given to me and that's all I've been using for the past 5 years now for everything (rims, hood hinges & springs, hood latch support, fender braces, door strikers & hinges, etc.)
Think there's any market out there for AD folks wanting this done for them instead of buying their own setup?

Many times a hobby guy does not have enough to powder coat to justify buying a kit. I even took a few pieces to a big shop just to keep from dragging my stuff out for such a small job. But then, if I get started I'll probably want to powder coat everything I pick up!!! Once you poweder coat things how much of a window do you have to get it in the stove....or is there a time period?? Can you shoot several pieces and then rotate them into the oven??
I sent you a PM with a couple more questions. I need to start using mine or get rid of it!! | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 55 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 55 | Achipmunk, Tough market to get into unfortunately. Guys with bigger toys (ovens) kinda run us small guys over. Once you get started coating, you ain't gonna want to stop (but go ahead.......you can send stuff to me) You can literally shoot the part you want to paint, and leave it hangin' around the shop for days if you want. Not really recommended, but if you can keep it away from any breeze so the paint doesn't blow off or collect dirt/dust, you're good to go! I try my best to "maximize" my time and the space in my oven. I will shoot everything I know I can get done in a day, and then strategically (or to use a Bushism, I use strategery) hang the parts in the oven to get as many pieces in at one time as I can. Cook 'em, let 'em cool off a little, pull them out, hang on a separate rack in the shop, place more parts in the oven and let 'er rip. Anyone out there wanna good deal on powdercoating for their AD small parts, gimme a shout. You don't have to use your kit..........send it to me, I'll hook ya up! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Thanks Mark. I wish you were closer. Man, the only way I can get more hours in a day is not to take a lunch hour!! Well, I'll start playing around with it. First I better open it up and read all the info Eastwood sent with it.....but nothing like first hand advice.
