Stock Chevy 6 cylinder distributors I have rebuilt use a 3/16 x 3/4 pin. V8's use 3/16 x 7/8. However a number of the 6 cylinder distributors have had the hole in the shaft rounded out. The gear seems to be fine due to the hardness. This can be repaired if the hole is not too oblong by drilling both together on a drill press to 7/32 and using the correct size pin. You can get a pin from an industrial supply store. They will have the specs for the actual pin min/max hole size. Specify a hardened carbon steel roll pin. Avoid stainless or low carbon pins due to shear strength. | | |
