plane_fixer 'Bolter P Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 45 south burb of Chicago	Well I drove my 1950 truck around the block and the oil pressure reads a little over 15psi @about 2000 (I'm guessing) at idle it's at about 3-5 psi is this normal? I'm running a straight 30 for oil. Should it flucuate that much? I tried to search the forum and couldn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated John

51bolt Shop Shark 5 Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 200 Emory, Texas	Plane, Yeah that sounds about right. When the oil is cold it will be higher than when it's hot and at idle. It looks a little scary when it's at temp and at idle. Mark 1951 Chevy 3100 Some days you get the bear. Some days the bear gets you.

Denny Graham 'Bolter D Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 Sandwich, IL	14-15lbs at speed and 6-7lbs at idle when warm. #20 or #30 oil is fine for your engine or a 10w-30 multigrade mineral or synthetic. They do state however that the minimum at 2000 RPM would be 7 lbs. I believe that was for a passenger car. 1951 GMC 1 Ton Flatbed -- It is finally on the road and what a great time I have driving it! 1951 1 Ton Completed My Chevy Master 4 Door is on the Road!
