Wow! What a cool website! I can tell that there are LOTS of great folks on this site that share a great passion for these trucks. I have already learned many things from this site and I have yet to ask a question.
I have a 53 Chevy 3100 project, and just last tuesday I brought home a 57 GMC 370, with 59,814 on the odometer! I can't help myself when it comes to those big trucks. I like to have something different, and that they are. I just LOVE 'em
Thanks for allowing me to join!

Hey Terry, glad to have you join us. How big of a project is the '53? Is it something you will have on the road by spring? Good luck and show us what you have.

Finally got registered for a image hosting site! So now I can post pics! The story behind my truck is it was purchased by the father of the PO before me in 1977 from Dusseau Equipment Inc. out of Temperance Michigan. It was used to deliver John Deere equipment, which would explain the cool color combo. The dad's intention was to make it into a dump to use around the farm. They put it in the barn and there it sat for the next 30 yrs. Sadly his father passed and the son had no use for it. He reluctantly sold it to me. He really wanted it to go to someone who would bring the old girl back to life. The first pic is the first look I got when the barn door first opened. The second is my Tessie sitting in the yard after unloading. It was last registered in 1974!

Just checked out your photos, Looks real good.
That's some pretty faded John Deere green!
Are you going to keep the 5th wheel?
If you do you'll of course have to find a trailer to complete the combo. grin
BTW got any pics of the '53?

I wanted to keep the JD color scheme and add the previous JD dealers( now defunct)name. However I work at a shop that makes the seating for JD tractors and after showing one of the JD bigwigs my pics and explaining what I wanted to do I was told that without a license agreement I would be hauled into court. He gave me a name and number to someone in the legal dept at JD, but I passed. I've decided to go Fire engine red with black interior and wheels. The grill, headlight trim and bumpers will be white. I will ABSOLUTELY KEEP the 5th wheel! I like having that is different! Next will be a trailer large enough to fit my pop's(66) and my brothers(63) Ford's!
I just sold my 53 project to finance the GMC. Tires, and a new seat are the main concerns for now.

...what a PITA. Like your going to hurt their business. They should give you money to paint it and advertise for them.!!

That's a dang shame Oldtime..

People are so wrapped up in litigation these days, and as Alvin mentioned THEY should pay you to advertise!

Good you did the homework though,it's quite probably saved you a bunch of $$$$!
Imagine, a second respray and court costs!

Mind you,Fire engine red will be nice.....
Glad to hear you're keeping the 5th wheel and putting it to work.
