need help to identify year and type truck i have.it's a 39 or 40 GMC 1 1/2 ton with a pickup bed.model#302 SN#24060 small tag riveted to firewall #984-57002

Look for the chassis number located on the right hand frame side member above front spring. 1939 numbers are 001 - 10014 , 12001 -12945.
Your 302 model number indicates 300 series.

ok i checked out frame number, AC302 2460 . so that makes the truck 1940 ?

Using this chart from oldgmctrucks.com, I read that to be a 1939 serial number.

I would say 2460 falls between the 39 serial numbers 001 - 10014
