The front fenders for 1955-56 Chevy pickups are diferent from the 57's. My parts book reads that the front fenders for the 1955-56 and 57 are the same for the 4000 and 6000 series. Is that true? Thanks

the difference in the light truck fenders is just that the 57 has some mounting holes in the raised ridge around the grill opening, the 5&6 grill fits inside the opening, the 57 sits on top of that surrounding ridge otherwise identical and can be interchanged ... 4100 and up = 1.5T and up - different fenders than the light trucks, useing about the same grill all years and it fits inside the opening, so yes all 3 years the same

take a walk thru the gallery and note the difference in light/heavy trucks of those years

Actually the difference is in the wheel well opening with the big trucks the 57s opening is 1 inch forward compared to the 55 and 56 this is true with the front springs as well 55 and 56 the axle pin is centered on the spring 57 is one inch to the front centering the wheels in the well. This allows for a larger steer tire to be used on a 57 without hitting the fire wall when turning.

HevyHauler is correct, almost...the 1957 front axle was moved 2-1/2" forward making the 4000 & 6000 fender wheel openings larger than the 55-56 fenders. If you measure across the bottom of the wheel opening the 55-56 fenders are about 39" while the 57 is about 41.5".
