My rears are 11 inch and the front ones are smaller, about 9 inch, is this right?
2. Where is the chassis number located on this beast?

1.75" x 11" on the front drums
2" x 12" on the rear drums
I'm not sure what the drum sizes are, beyond the fact that the front drums are smaller than the rears.
The Body Serial Number is located on the cowl on the passenger's side. It should look something like this: 21DR-C3490 (that is mine).
The number at the beginning is the plant where assembly occured, the two letter code (DR) tells you what size truck you have, the single letter code (C) is the month of manufacture, and the number is the serial number, starting at 1001. | | |

I have a 1953 3/4 ton and just finished with the brakes. As I understand and if you have a shop manual to consult, the rear shoe is supposed to be larger than the front shoe. This would be the case on both axles. I think it has something to do with the amount of force being applied by the brake mechanism and how it applies that force. The shop manual makes note of this and I am glad that I had it b/c I wasn't paying attention that closely when I dissassembled my brakes. Good luck
