My brother has a motor with block number 3701887 and the number LAQ3I0883 on a small plate above the starter. Is this engine a 216 or 235? Please Help! Thanks! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | 3701887 = 1953 235
LAQ3I0883 LAQ = 1953 235 with Powerglide (passenger)

What source did you use to get the info? My brother says its a 216... so I need to confirm the sources where the info is coming from.
Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | Sorry, Sergio, The information came from the 1953 Specification booklet posted on Keith Hardy's website. LAQ shows it came with option 313 L = 1953 A = passenger Q = RPO-313 RPO 313 is a Powerglide transmission. All cars that came with a Powerglide transmission came with a 235 engine. That would be the first high-pressure 235 (a high-pressure 235 was not available in trucks until 1954). | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 82 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 82 | Hello,
