What does it have now?
What's wrong with it?
What do you want it to do?
How much money do you have?

There'll be as many different responses as there are respondees. Perhaps sharing your grand plan will yield a specific direction.

As it stands, my vote would be a GM crate 350, Around $2K.

PS: Be careful with Joker's response, I didn't notice any valve covers...... lol

Good luck

Also might need some stock in a tire company.

Please don't put a Ford engine in it!
We need to know what you want from the truck: daily driver, hauling/towing, custom show truck, autocross, etc.
Inline 6's and small-block V-8's are common and easy.

If you can't fix it with a hammer and screwdriver, you need a bigger hammer.
