Thanks, Pete | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | I have a 787s and it is bolted to a 216 manifold. I dont think it will bolt to a 235 manifold
I was told if I upgrade to a 235 manifold I could use a 2100s.
you'll have to check the flange dimensions to confirm.
my motor is a 235

However, use caution if you're buying a reman, as some fords used that carb as well. The ford version, while externally the same (may say "Manufactured by Carter for Motorcraft" on the side), internally, they are different. The jetting is much higher (I've been told 150% larger than the GM version), and will make a 235 run very rich. I found this out the hard way, running 2 YFs on mine. The rear (ford carb) ran way rich. Swapped them, problem moved to the front. I ended up ditching the Carters for a pair of Holleys I rebuilt myself, problem solved.

I'd still like to see that hood light??? I'll be keepin' my eyes open for a 2100 fur ya buddy.

I bought a rebuilt kit for my 787s from a guy in Missouri (I think it could of been THE CARB KING) He recommended to me a Carter YF 2100s or 2101s for the 235 set up. He's offered a lot of advice on carburation over the years. Maybe he'll chime in on this one with a little more detailed info, if he's not busy talking carburetors with someone on the phone. http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/ Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

Very nice fella, answered a ton of questions I had about my Carter. Yes it was over the phone. Old school, no internet orders. Good Luck | | |
