I just installed a 55-235 in my 52-3100 and was looking at getting a carter carb so I see that there are two that fit my engine one is the 2100s and the 787s witch one is better it's a 235 /55/power glide ,stock engine.

Thanks, Pete

I have a 787s and it is bolted to a 216 manifold. I dont think it will bolt to a 235 manifold

I was told if I upgrade to a 235 manifold I could use a 2100s.

you'll have to check the flange dimensions to confirm.

my motor is a 235

Good Luck
(Thank you, for those of you who served)

The 2100S is the one you want for a 235. However, use caution if you're buying a reman, as some fords used that carb as well. The ford version, while externally the same (may say "Manufactured by Carter for Motorcraft" on the side), internally, they are different. The jetting is much higher (I've been told 150% larger than the GM version), and will make a 235 run very rich. I found this out the hard way, running 2 YFs on mine. The rear (ford carb) ran way rich. Swapped them, problem moved to the front. I ended up ditching the Carters for a pair of Holleys I rebuilt myself, problem solved.

I you don't have anything to do Peter, you could always put the '52 up on blocks for the winter and I know where there's a '53 GMC that's in need of some tender loving care. I'd still like to see that hood light???
I'll be keepin' my eyes open for a 2100 fur ya buddy.

Thanks, Denny

That 53 GMC is going to get some work done on it this winter ,starting with the brakes and a good cleaning also want to get that sheet of steel out of the bed.I'll see whats under that it will be ugly I think.I'll be at Uptown on monday and I'll look at that light.

A Carter YF 2101s would work also.

I bought a rebuilt kit for my 787s from a guy in Missouri (I think it could of been THE CARB KING)

He recommended to me a Carter YF 2100s or 2101s for the 235 set up.

Good Luck

Jon Hardgrove aka carbking, is a regular here on the bolt Dad. He's offered a lot of advice on carburation over the years. Maybe he'll chime in on this one with a little more detailed info, if he's not busy talking carburetors with someone on the phone. http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/

Yes it was over the phone. Old school, no internet orders.

Good Luck
