For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 24 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 24 | I would like help decoding the vin and engine size on my GMC truck. Although the grille has a 350 emblem, it has a 6 cyl. Flatbed dually Tag reads as follows: Vin:353 c t 1014 Gross hp:140 @3600 Net hp: 127 @3400 Gross weight:16000 Combination weight:32000
Any help would be appreciated. I just bought it.
What engine options were available? Thanks for any help

A 347 cu in V8 would have been available as an option. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 82 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 82 | The 350 emblem doesn't refer to the engine or engine size. It's a 350 "series" truck.
I *think* it's also called a 2-ton, but somehow I often get that wrong.
There's a Low Cab Forward version of a 350, but I think the "c" in your VIN means it is a conventional. And, yours should have a ~155" wheelbase.
I also think there is an "8" in the serial if it came with the V8, so the sixer is what your truck rolled off the line with.
Probably has a 6.17 rear end.
Those are my guesses.
